In this 4- week course, students will learn the fundamentals of hand building! From coil pots to slab-built projects, instructor Nichole Schiller will guide students through beginner friendly hand building techniques!

Throughout this course, Nichole will teach students a number of topics, including:

Slab Building
Coil Decorating
Pinch Pots to Assist in Sculpting Small Pieces.
Scoring And Slipping Clay Together- Discuss the Stages of Workability with Clay And Potential Issues That May Arise
Different Surface Decorating Techniques (Stamping, Cookie Cutters, Scoring and Slipping
Sprig Molds, Texture Rollers, Basic Sculpting Etc).
Dip Bisqued Pots into Studio Glazes
By the end of this course, students will leave with a strong foundation in hand building and a deeper appreciation for the art of ceramics!

Students projects will be ready for pick up 2-3 weeks after the course.

Instructor Bio:
Nichole Schiller is a ceramic artist and the Education Coordinator at K Space Contemporary, a non profit arts organization. Since 2020 she and her partner, Adam Haney, have been creating ceramics together under their business A&N Ceramics. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi with an emphasis in Sculpture and Ceramics. Nichole's classes focus on fostering creativity, teaching proper techniques, and an appreciation for the art of ceramics.
