Cassidy’s Irish Pub Celebrates Grand Reopening in Downtown

Corpus Christi, Texas – A beloved pub in Downtown Corpus Christi underwent a complete renovation giving it a new fresh look. Cassidy’s Irish Pub is celebrating their grand reopening on Thursday, November 13th, at 5:00 pm. The ribbon cutting is hosted by the Corpus Christi Downtown Management District (CCDMD).

Cassidy’s Irish Pub first opened its doors in 2000 by local attorney Les Cassidy. Just a few years after opening the current owner, Mike Treiber began bartending and managing the pub where he quickly fell in love with the quaint, authentic Irish Pub. Since then, he has been proudly serving the community for 25 years.

Support from the Downtown Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #3 (TIRZ #3) Streetscape & Safety Improvement Program helped make this remodel possible. With Cassidys’ grand re-opening, the recent debut of Street Corner Kitchen and the future opening of Hilton Spark hotel, this corner of downtown is quickly transforming into a vibrant destination dining, hospitality, and entertainment.

“We’re thrilled to be able to provide a fresh new look for our patrons while keeping to our authentic Irish roots,” said owner Mike Treiber. “We look forward to continuing the traditions and legacy of Cassidy’s Irish Pub and serving our community for many more years to come.”

“It’s inspiring to see our longtime downtown businesses continue to invest in their spaces with support from the TIRZ #3. These efforts strengthen the foundation of our community and bring us closer to a lively, connected, and beautiful downtown,” said Arlene Medrano, Executive Director of the Corpus Christi Downtown Management District.

ABOUT CCDMD

The Corpus Christi Downtown Management District (CCDMD), established in 1993, is a professional municipal district, representing property owners and stakeholders within the area bounded by Furman Avenue to I-37, and Lower Broadway to Corpus Christi marina L and T-heads, known as Marina Arts District. In 2023, the property owners voted to renew the district through 2033. The vision of the CCDMD is to create the most vibrant downtown on the Gulf Coast.

The City of Corpus Christi created Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #3 in 2008, to assist in the redevelopment of the City’s greater downtown area. Authorized by Chapter 311 of the Texas Tax Code, this tool allows governments to designate a portion of tax increment to finance improvements to promote the development of a defined area, called a “Reinvestment Zone”. Using development cost data and market demand data, the city and the DMD, with county and Del Mar contributions, worked together to develop five incentive programs to drive new investment within the Zone. The purpose of these programs is to support small businesses, activate vacant buildings and increase the housing supply.
