Corpus Christi Downtown Management District Announces 7th Annual State of Downtown
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The Corpus Christi Downtown Management District (CCDMD) will host its 7th Annual State of Downtown on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at The Omni Corpus Christi Hotel from 5:30PM-7:30PM. The event will once again be presented by AEP Texas, continuing a partnership focused on celebrating growth, investment, and the future of Downtown Corpus Christi.
The State of Downtown brings together community leaders, developers, business owners, residents, and stakeholders to reflect on the year’s accomplishments, highlight economic and cultural impact, and share strategic priorities for the year ahead. The 2026 event underscores downtown’s ongoing revitalization as a vibrant center for living, commerce, and culture on the Gulf Coast.
Key Highlights from October 1, 2024-September 30, 2025 (FY 2024–2025) Impact Report:
Downtown activity continued to grow, with over 483,000 visits to signature events such as First Friday ArtWalk and MusicWalk.
The district facilitated $130+ million in development investment through financial incentives and public-private partnerships.
16 new businesses opened downtown, increasing diversity of commerce and strengthening the local economy.
Ongoing infrastructure and public space enhancements improved walkability, lighting, and placemaking throughout the district.
The State of Downtown will also recognize excellence across the community with the return of the Downtowner Awards, honoring local businesses, entrepreneurs, creatives, and contributors that have had exceptional impact over the past year. The awards celebrate leaders in business growth, cultural enrichment, community partnership, and downtown spirit.
Executive Director Arlene Medrano shared her vision for downtown’s future:
“Downtown Corpus Christi is where our history and vision meet executable plans. In every handshake with a new business owner and every footstep at an ArtWalk or community event, I see momentum, pride, and possibility. Our work isn’t just about buildings or infrastructure it’s about fostering a place where people want to live, work, and belong. I am honored to lead this effort alongside our partners,
stakeholders, and residents as we shape a downtown that reflects the heart and resilience of our city.” - Arlene Medrano, Executive Director, CCDMD
