Corpus Christi Downtown Management District Announces The Return Of Downtown Corpus Christi Mural Fest 2026 Presented By Corpus Christi Medical Center (CCMC)
Corpus Christi, TX — The Corpus Christi Downtown Management District (CCDMD) announces the return of Mural Fest 2026 presented by Corpus Christi Medical Center (CCMC), a multi-day public art initiative that will bring internationally recognized muralists to Downtown Corpus Christi to create five new large-scale works across the district.
“Investing in projects that support the Downtown District is one way we help our community thrive,” said David Irizarry, Chief Executive Officer of Corpus Christi Medical Center. “Mural Fest brings people together, celebrates local and national artists, and reflects the culture that makes Corpus Christi home. We’re proud to partner in strengthening the heart of our city.”
Building on the success of previous mural initiatives and the long-standing impact of local programs such as K Space Contemporary’s mural efforts, Mural Fest continues to position downtown as a hub for arts, culture, and creative placemaking. These projects contribute to a more vibrant, walkable environment while supporting tourism, small business visibility, and long-term investment in the district.
Mural Fest 2026 will feature a curated group of artists whose work spans global markets, contemporary techniques, and community-centered storytelling.
This year’s artists are:
Anna Charney (Denver, CO): A painter and muralist known for abstract, illusionistic patterns inspired by mathematical forms in nature. Her work transforms architectural surfaces into immersive visual environments through layered color and geometric complexity.
DBSTUDIO (Los Angeles, CA): A collaborative duo of Brenda Cibrian and Daisuke Okamoto, whose work blends intricate linework with themes of identity, culture, and human connection. Their murals have been installed across the U.S. and internationally, including collaborations with major organizations and media platforms.
Lucas Aoki (Austin, TX): An internationally recognized muralist and painter, and two-time Regional Winner of the National Mural Awards. His large-scale works have been commissioned globally across both public and private sectors.
Megan Oldhues (Toronto, Canada): A muralist specializing in large-scale figurative work that captures everyday moments with impressionistic texture and movement. Her work emphasizes human connection and the quiet details of daily life.
K Space Contemporary (Corpus Christi, TX): A cornerstone of the local arts community, K Space has led over 30 mural projects since 2008, engaging local artists, youth, and community members to create public art that strengthens neighborhood identity and pride.
Mural installations will take place at locations throughout Downtown Corpus Christi, contributing to a growing network of public art that enhances the district’s visual identity and supports increased pedestrian activity.
“Mural Fest continues to demonstrate how strategic arts investment supports economic development,” said Arlene Medrano, Executive Director of the Downtown Management District. “These projects activate underutilized spaces, attract visitors, and reinforce downtown as a place where creativity, business, and community intersect.”
Public art remains a core component of downtown’s development strategy, aligning with broader efforts to increase vibrancy, support small businesses, and create a destination environment for residents and visitors. As new murals are added each year, the district continues to build a recognizable and marketable arts identity that contributes to long-term growth.
Additional details, including mural locations and event programming, will be announced in the coming weeks.
