Press Release: Downtown Corpus Christi Celebrates North Water Apartments Grand Opening

Corpus Christi, Texas – The Corpus Christi Downtown Management District (CCDMD) is pleased to announce the grand opening of North Water Apartments at 1001 N. Water Street today, Thursday, December 19, from 10:00AM until 11:00AM with an official ribbon cutting at 10:30AM, hosted by CCDMD and the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce.

Renovations include all new kitchen and bath cabinets, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, new plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures in and around the property, new vinyl flooring, fresh paint, parking lot paving and striping, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC system replacements, a new roof, fire alarm system upgrades, and upgrades to common area amenities such as the pool, office, trash systems, and the addition of a fitness center.

The five-story, 58-unit multifamily building is rich with historic value to Downtown Corpus Christi and was originally a five-story, 110-room hotel named the Princess Louise Hotel. The Spanish Colonial Revival styled hotel opened its doors in January 1928 and even served as the location kicking-off the festivities of the first ever Buc Days Festival. In 1964, the hotel was converted into condominium apartments, renamed La Posada, then eventually The Princess Apartments until it was finally purchased and managed in 2021 by GVA Property Management and FishPond Development and renamed The North Water Apartments.

“We’re thrilled to be able to provide beautiful, modern, and affordable amenities to residents that call Downtown Corpus Christi home,” says David Fournier, FishPond Living and North Water Apartments Developer. “This development wouldn’t have been possible without the support from the DMD and the City of Corpus Christi.”

“The North Water Apartments hold such great historic value for our community and serves as a way to honor the past while looking forward to a vibrant future in Downtown Corpus Christi,” says Daniela Campos, Communications & Public Relations Coordinator for the CCDMD. “We are grateful for the TIRZ board and City’s support in breathing new life into a long-neglected property.”

The North Water Apartments currently have units available for rent.
