Press Release: Downtown Corpus Christi Celebrates the Grand Opening of OK HI-FI
Corpus Christi, Texas – OK HI-FI is the newest bar in Downtown Corpus Christi, and is celebrating their grand opening on Friday, July 5th, during First Friday ArtWalk with an official ribbon cutting at 4:00 PM, hosted by the Corpus Christi Downtown Management District (CCDMD) and the United Corpus Christi’s Chamber of Commerce.
This is the latest business venture of local producer, DJ, and nu-cumbia pioneer Dusty Oliveira, better known in the music community as El Dusty, who was raised and rooted in Corpus Christi. El Dusty is also managing partner at The PRODUCE Compound in Corpus Christi, which houses Produce MicroBodega, Sound Studios & Creative Spaces, Hybrid Records, and GalleryBar Co, all of which are located on Peoples Street in Downtown Corpus Christi.
“I’m hoping to bring awareness to the vinyl culture in Corpus Christi,” says Oliveira. “There are a lot of really dope collectors and DJs here in town and we need a place to gather and listen to music.”
Support from the Downtown Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #3 (TIRZ #3) has helped make this possible. “Our board is proud to see these projects come to fruition,” says TIRZ #3 Board member and District 1 Council Member Everett Roy. “We’re committed to helping local entrepreneurs find success in their endeavors that are for the betterment of Corpus Christi.”
“We’re thrilled to see art and music communities expand and thrive,” says Alyssa B. Mason, Executive Director of CCDMD. “Downtown is rapidly evolving into a vibrant place that highlights the unique cultures existing in Corpus Christi.”
This is the 11th new business to open this year in Downtown Corpus Christi.
