Join CCDMD and AEP Texas for the Peppermint Lane Lighting Ceremony

Corpus Christi, Texas – AEP Texas and the Corpus Christi Downtown Management District (CCDMD) invite the community to celebrate the magic of the season at the Peppermint Lane Lighting Ceremony on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 6:30 PM during the weekly Holiday Market on Peppermint Lane. The ceremony will take place at the BUS (Bar Under the Sun) parking lot, 702 N. Chaparral Street.

A cherished local tradition, Peppermint Lane dates back to the mid-1960s, when Downtown Corpus Christi merchants came together to transform the streets into a festive holiday destination. The CCDMD proudly revived this beloved holiday experience in 2018—recreating the spirit and sparkle of yesteryear with red and white garland-wrapped light poles, bright peppermint decorations, and cheerful holiday banners.

This year, Peppermint Lane will shine even brighter with the addition of whimsical candy cane decorations adorning light poles along Chaparral Street, continuing the effort to make Downtown the heart of holiday magic in Corpus Christi.

This year, the Holiday Market on Peppermint Lane will take place on Sundays (November 16, 23, 30 & December 7, 21) from 2:00–7:00 PM. The market will be held at BUS (Bar Under the Sun) and will feature artisan vendors, live entertainment, and festive photo opportunities, creating a family-friendly space for shopping and celebration.

CCDMD also encourages residents and visitors to explore Downtown Corpus Christi’s local shops, restaurants, and businesses—turning the area into your go-to Holiday Shopping Headquarters.

“At AEP Texas, we take pride in putting the customer first. For us, that means becoming involved in community celebrations and traditions where we live and work,” Omar Lopez, AEP Texas Communications director, said. “AEP Texas is proud to help bring back a Corpus Christi tradition that generations remember and love – Peppermint Lane. We are excited to help illuminate Downtown Corpus Christi and share in the joy that comes with the start of the holiday season.”

“Peppermint Lane has become a beautiful tradition that connects our past with our present,” said Arlene Medrano, Executive Director of the CCDMD. “Every year, we see more families, more laughter, and more memories being made Downtown. We’re thrilled to continue growing this celebration and welcoming everyone back to experience the holidays in the heart of our city.”

Media attendance is warmly encouraged and greatly appreciated. Additional details about CCDMD’s Holiday Series events will be announced in the coming weeks. All outdoor events are weather permitting.
