Temporary Closures To and Through Downtown due to Annual 2025 Conquer the Coast
Several streets in the greater downtown area will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 4:00AM-2:00PM, due to the annual 2025 Conquer the Coast bike ride event and will reopen upon event conclusion. Street closures are as follows with direct downtown impacts and reroutes bolded:
- Port Avenue (from Whataburger Field to Mesquite Street), Mesquite Street (from Power Street to IH37), and Power Street (from Mesquite Street to Shoreline Boulevard) will be closed to facilitate the start of the race. Police officers will be staged at intersections to manage traffic flow.
- Access to North Beach will be via southbound US 181 from 4:00AM to 9:00AM
- Shoulder and lane closures will be implemented along JFK Causeway, Park Road 22, SH361, and NAS Drive from 4:00AM to 2:00PM
- Northbound US 181 - Beach Avenue exit ramp and northbound US 181 entrance ramp from North Beach will be closed from 4:00AM to 9:00AM
- Northbound IH 37 – Access from Downtown (IH37) will be closed, and motorists will be detoured onto Mesquite Street from 4:00AM to 9:00AM
- Southbound IH 37 – The southbound connector from IH 37 to northbound US 181 will be closed from 4:00AM to 9:00AM
- Shoreline Boulevard – Single-lane closures in the northbound and southbound lanes from 4:00AM to 2:00AM
