Corpus Christi Downtown Management District Announces an Interim Executive Director has been Named

Corpus Christi, Texas – The Corpus Christi Downtown Management District (CCDMD) today announced that the Board of Directors appointed Arlene Medrano as Interim Executive Director, effective Monday, April 21, 2025. Medrano currently serves as Deputy Director for CCDMD. The appointment follows Alyssa B. Mason’s decision to step down and depart the organization after serving as Executive Director since 2018.

Before joining CCDMD, Medrano had a longstanding career in municipal government, serving multiple positions with the City of Corpus Christi in Administration, the Fire Department, and Finance before becoming Assistant City Manager for the City of Alice, Texas in 2022.

“With Arlene’s experience in city and downtown management, the Board is confident in her ability to maintain CCDMD’s organizational continuity and execute our strategic plan with efficiency and professionalism,” said CCDMD Board Chair, Glenn R. Peterson. “She will continue to advocate for Downtown’s success and provide strong, steady leadership the organization needs as we move forward in the search for the next Executive Director.”

“I am grateful for the opportunity to support and lead the CCDMD during this transitional period and sincerely look forward to building collaborative relationships with the board, team members, key stakeholders, and community partners as the organization seeks permanent leadership,” said Medrano. “CCDMD remains committed to its vision to create the most vibrant downtown on the Gulf Coast and the impact we have on the community. We will continue our work with steadfast determination, and the progress we are making in Downtown Corpus Christi.”

The CCDMD Board of Directors will begin the search for CCDMD’s next Executive Director soon via an assembled search committee and aims to select a permanent Executive Director by the end of Summer.
