Press Release: Downtown Corpus Christi Opens 2026 Artist Search and Call for Walls for 5th Annual Mural Fest

Corpus Christi, TX — The Corpus Christi Downtown Management District (CCDMD) is proud to announce the return of Downtown Corpus Christi’s Mural Festival in 2026, marking its 5th annual celebration of public art and creative placemaking.

Since launching in 2022, the Downtown Mural Program has brought 21 vibrant murals to Downtown Corpus Christi transforming more than 20,000 square feet of previously blighted walls into dynamic works of art that reflect the culture, history, and character of Downtown Corpus Christi. In 2026, the DMD aims to install four to five new murals, continuing to enhance the downtown landscape through impactful public art.

Artists and downtown property owners interested in participating are invited to apply through the 2026 Artist Request for Qualifications (RFQ) and Call for Walls, which will open Friday, January 16, on the CCDMD website and official social media platforms.

Mural Fest is about more than the beautiful works of art themselves — it’s about the message and the meaning behind them. Each year, the DMD carefully crafts an array of installations with direct ties to our community’s culture, history, and environment, so that we may continue to build on and celebrate what makes Downtown Corpus Christi such a wonderful place to be.

“I am looking forward to bringing in a new group of artists this year and getting to know them, working with them, and introducing them to our Downtown community,” said Aalec O’Donnell, Placemaking & Main Street Manager for the Corpus Christi Downtown Management District, “It is always a great pleasure to watch as their captivating works of art come to life.”

Community members are also encouraged to save the date for Mural Festival Week, scheduled for May 31 through June 6, 2026, when artists will be on-site creating murals throughout Downtown Corpus Christi.
