Downtown Corpus Christi Prepares for First Friday ArtWalk Presented by H-E-B with Road Closures and Programming in April

Corpus Christi, Texas – As Downtown Corpus Christi prepares for the monthly return of First Friday ArtWalk on Friday, April 4, 2025, the Corpus Christi Downtown Management District (CCDMD) reminds the community of the implementation of a new traffic control plan in partnership with the City of Corpus Christi. This includes the closure of the Bayfront exit in which traffic coming southbound from US 181 from Portland into Downtown will be rerouted starting at 11:00AM on Friday, April 4th, until 1:00AM on Saturday, April 5th. CCDMD encourages visitors to plan their trip accordingly and consider taking alternate routes: Route #1

  • Take 286 loop exit onto 286 S
  • Exit on Morgan Avenue onto 17th Street
  • Turn left on Morgan Avenue
  • Turn left onto Ocean Drive

Route #2

  • Take exit onto Martin Luther King Drive
  • Turn right onto Port Avenue
  • Turn right onto N. Chaparral Street

Vehicles taking route #2 should be aware that the Skills USA conference will be taking place this weekend and should exercise caution when driving by the American Bank Center and expect minor traffic and pedestrian congestion. “Public safety is our number one priority to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for our ArtWalk attendees,” says Alyssa B. Mason, Executive Director of the CCDMD. “We appreciate the understanding and support of the community as ArtWalk continues to elvove.” Highlights of April First Friday ArtWalk presented by H-E-B include:
