K Space Contemporary is a 501c3 non-profit arts organization dedicated to presenting and promoting contemporary art. As a forum for creative exchange, education, and experimentation, KSC builds awareness for innovative art in South Texas.

K Space Contemporary was established in 2001 by key members of K Space Art Studios and in 2007, opened its current street-level location. The “K” in our name refers to the building’s historic roots as a Kress Five & Dime Store. 

K Space Contemporary mounts 18 - 20 solo and group exhibitions each year by regional and national artists. We welcome innovative methods and site-specific concepts in all visual media. Over the years, K Space has exhibited hundreds of exceptional artists and established a reputation for excellence. We remain an artist-centric organization dedicated to providing a venue for emerging and mid-career artists to exhibit their work and further their careers.

In 2019, K Space Contemporary expanded into a more visible storefront, which includes a gift shop where we feature hand-made items by local artists and artisans. The new storefront has increased attendance and brought more attention and sales to our artists/artisans.

Our Education Programs include lectures, workshops, figure drawing sessions, Summer Mural Arts Program and Art Lab for teens, virtual classes, and outreach programming to K-12 classrooms, Senior Recreation Centers, and other non-profit partners.
