This National Mural Award winning mural is inspired by the Tejano culture and music in South Texas, both past and present. The bright colors and whimsical shapes represent the rhythm and movement of this music genre and the city's vibrant performing arts scene. The two cowboy calaveras are playing an accordion and an acoustic guitar which are both popular instruments used by Mexican and Tejano musicians.

Eric Karbeling is a Honolulu, Hawaii-based artist who specializes in transforming environments through the creation of mural paintings. His unique style involves the use of improvisational forms, often referred to as "squiggles," which he employs to craft vibrant and mesmerizing imagery.

The primary objective of Eric's work is to elicit feelings of joy, calmness, and balance within the midst of chaos. He intends to invite viewers to immerse themselves in his art and discover inspiration through the harmonious fusion of colors and shapes. Additionally, Eric aims to establish a deeper connection between the viewer and the location of his artwork, mirroring the profound connection he experiences while
bringing his creations to life.

Throughout his career, Eric has painted murals for various organizations across the United States. His portfolio includes works created for schools, mural festivals, music festivals, professional sports teams, private clients, and charity/community projects. It all began with the first mural he painted in his own apartment, marking the inception of his remarkable artistic path.
