This sculpture depicts two sailfish leaping from the sea. Two ideas inspired the work - the constancy of the bay wind against the shore and an old Swedish blessing that bestows success and happiness. The sculputure expresses goodwill toward the people of Corpus Christi in hope that they will always have wind in their sails. In 1983 the National Sculpture Society in New York awarded Wind in the Sails a gold medal.
