Press Release: Downtown Corpus Christi Celebrates Holiday Inn Express Grand Opening

Corpus Christi, Texas – The Corpus Christi Downtown Management District (CCDMD) is thrilled to announce the grand opening of Holiday Inn Express on Wednesday, September 18th, from 10:00AM until 11:00AM with an official ribbon cutting at 10:30AM, hosted by CCDMD and the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce.

The Holiday Inn Express Hotel–previously part of The Emerald Beach Hotel–renovation project is supported by TIRZ. The owners, C&P Monarch, LP, acquired the property back in 2021 and had proposed splitting the Emerald Beach Hotel into two hotels, one of which being Holiday Inn Express. It was dubbed The South Tower Phase, the first phase of the massive renovation. Completion of the 143-room hotel offers hotel guests a “preeminent tourist destination with multiple uses and amenities throughout the property”.

Emerald Beach Hotel originally opened in 1965 and since its inception, has been rebranded or reopened into four hotels. Renovations of The South Tower phase included a completely redesigned façade, a new lobby entrance canopy and roof, the resurfacing and restriping of the parking lot, a new pedestrian walkway, new lighting, upgraded security cameras, a new mural and signage, double doors and decorative fencing, and beautiful landscaping. The renovations also include a new rooftop event center, which is still currently being remodeled.

“The TIRZ board and CCDMD’s commitment to fostering growth and development in our downtown area has been instrumental in bringing this vision to life,” says Holiday Inn Express developer and owner, Rupak Patel. “The restoration of this hotel not only preserves that history but also breathes new life into it. We are excited to offer a modern facility that honors the past while providing all the comforts and conveniences that today’s travelers expect.”

“We are happy to see new life in this property. The new improvements and new energy are a symbol of what is on the way for downtown,” says CCDMD Executive Director, Alyssa B. Mason. “We remain grateful to the TIRZ board, the City, and our many downtown property owners.”

This is the 12th new business to open this year in Downtown Corpus Christi and is currently open for booking.
