Press Release: Join CCDMD and AEP Texas for the Peppermint Lane Lighting Ceremony
Join CCDMD and AEP Texas for the Peppermint Lane Lighting Ceremony
Corpus Christi, Texas – AEP Texas and the Corpus Christi Downtown Management District (CCDMD) are pleased to host the Peppermint Lane Lighting Ceremony on Sunday, November 24th, 2024, at 5:30PM during the weekly Holiday Market on Peppermint Lane. The ceremony will take place on Chaparral Street between Lawrence and Lomax Streets.
Peppermint Lane dates back to the mid-60’s and was intended to decorate Downtown for the holidays and bring community members into stores for their holiday shopping needs. CCDMD brought back the installation in 2018, recreating that historic and timeless experience by wrapping red and white garland around light poles, hanging up holiday banners, and placing colorful peppermints in flowerbeds.
Peppermint lane runs from Taylor to Lomax Streets and every Sunday starting on November 3rd leading up to Christmas, CCDMD hosts Holiday Market on Peppermint Lane presented by CATs Market UNA from 2:00-7:00PM. The market features food trucks, artisan pop-up vendors, and family holiday photo opportunities. CCDMD also encourages visitors to shop at the local downtown businesses for their holiday shopping needs, officially turning Downtown Corpus Christi into the holiday shopping headquarters.
“AEP Texas is excited to partner with the Downtown Management District to light up downtown Corpus Christi this holiday season,” says Omar Lopez, Director of Communications. “AEP Texas is headquartered in Corpus Christi. We are proud to power safe events and installations like Peppermint Lane to provide a little extra holiday cheer for our customers and our community to enjoy.”
“Peppermint Lane is a way we’re able to recreate memories and honor the past, when Downtown Corpus Christi was the place to get your holiday shopping done,” says Daniela Campos, Communications & Public Relations Coordinator of CCDMD. “Thanks to our partnership with AEP Texas, we are able to offer a space for friends, families, and loved ones to come down, take a leisurely stroll, and carry on that fun holiday tradition.”
Media presence is kindly encouraged and greatly appreciated. More information about CCDMD’s Holiday Series events to be announced in the upcoming weeks. All outdoor events are weather permitting.
