Press Release: New Project Coming to Downtown Corpus Christi
Corpus Christi, Texas – A new project was approved during the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #3 (TIRZ #3) board meeting held this morning, January 30th, 2024, at 9:30AM to review project proposals and current project updates brought forward by the Corpus Christi Downtown Management District (CCDMD).
A popular local food trailer, Marty McPies, is trading wheels for brick and mortar. The pizza joint will be in a leased location on the ground floor of the Best Western at 300 N. Shoreline Blvd and is approved for nearly $27,500 in reimbursements through TIRZ #3 incentive programs, Commercial Finish Out Program and Streetscape & Safety Program.
Marty McPies first opened their food trailer in January 2021, serving craft pizza, made-to-order, and since then, has become one of the many food options present in Downtown Corpus Christi’s festivals and markets. “Thank you for the support for the past three years in the trailer,” says Martin Flores, owner of Marty McPies. “We’re excited to expand and offer more choices in a comfortable environment and be a part of a growing downtown community.”
Interior improvements include new drywall, fresh paint, new countertops, and backsplash. Exterior improvements include new railings for their outdoor patio, lighting, security cameras, and new landscaping. The family-oriented restaurant is expected to open in Fall 2024.
“We are thrilled to see continued development Downtown,” says Alyssa B. Mason, Executive Director of the CCDMD. “Thanks to the partnership we have with the City, the support granted by the TIRZ #3 Board, and the dedication of prospective business and property owners, Downtown’s street-level storefronts are more vibrant and diverse than before.”
