Holly Jolly Holiday Happenings Coming to Downtown Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi, Texas – The Corpus Christi Downtown Management District (CCDMD) is thrilled to announce the 2024 Downtown Holiday Series schedule starting early November through December. Events include but are not limited to two tree lightings, a boat parade, decorating contests, holiday lights and décor, and more!

The events and holiday installations are as follows:

  • The Port of Corpus Christi’s Holiday Tree in La Retama Park on November 1 during November’s First Friday ArtWalk. DMD will host an official tree lighting ceremony at 7PM. The tree will be up from November through December, giving families plenty of opportunities to take family holiday photos with the 18-foot tree and Santa who will be in attendance during the event. In conjunction with the Holiday Tree, Winter Wonderland in Artesian Park sponsored by the Downtown Advisory Council will be lit up, marking the start of the holiday season.
  • The Holiday Market on Peppermint Lane presented by CATs Market UNA, located on Chaparral Street from Lomax to Schatzell Streets, turns Downtown into the holiday shopping headquarters every Sunday for eight weeks from November 3 until December 22, 2-7PM. The Holiday Market on Peppermint Lane will host several food trucks, a variety of pop-up vendors, and family holiday photo opportunities. On November 24 at 5:30PM, Peppermint Lane presented by AEP Texas will have a Lighting Ceremony, lighting up all of Peppermint Lane.
  • Mayor’s Sparkling Christmas Lights Contest powered by AEP Foundation is a community-inclusive event that challenges downtown businesses and property owners to decorate their exterior storefronts throughout November for a chance to win cash prizes. On December 6, a panel of special guest judges will vote on winners and runner ups for each of the five categories from 6-10PM during December’s First Friday ArtWalk.
  • The H-E-B Christmas Tree and The Illuminated Boat Parade presented by The Port of Corpus Christi will both be held on Saturday, December 7. The event begins at 4PM with a variety of food trucks and dozens of vendors, live music, and photos with Santa available. The H-E-B Christmas Tree lighting ceremony starts at 5:30PM at Water’s Edge Park. Following the ceremony, the Illuminated Boat Parade takes off at 7PM where parade attendees are invited to watch from the seawall between Lawrence Street T-head and Coopers Alley L-head. Water vessels of all shapes and sizes are encouraged to participate and registration closes November 27.

“The holidays are the perfect time for the community, families, friends, and loved ones to come together and make unforgettable memories,” says Daniela Campos, Communications & Public Relations Coordinator of CCDMD. “For Downtown Corpus Christ to be the premier holiday destination and serve as the backdrop of those priceless experiences is something we’re proud of.”
